QC Mechanical Inspector – Petrochemical Project

SITEC Quality Group is urgently seeking 2 experienced QC Mechanical Inspectors for a major petrochemical project in Antwerp, Belgium.
Start date: October 2026
Duration: Until May 2027
Location: Belgium
Reports to: Site Quality Control Manager
The QC Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting mechanical construction activities, ensuring that works are performed in accordance with project specifications, approved procedures, applicable codes and quality requirements.
Required experience / qualifications
Previous experience as a QC Mechanical Inspector on petrochemical, oil & gas, refinery or major industrial construction projects.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and piping installation, inspection and testing activities.
Good understanding of applicable EN and ASME standards, including ASME B31.3 where relevant.
Experience working with approved ITPs, procedures, drawings, specifications and quality documentation.
Knowledge of material identification and material traceability requirements.
Experience with mechanical completion, inspection records, punch lists and turnover documentation.
Familiarity with Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) requirements would be an advantage.
Ability to identify and document quality deficiencies and follow the NCR / non-conformance process.
Strong HSE awareness and experience working under strict site safety requirements.
Previous experience on large international petrochemical projects is highly desirable.
Good command of English.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Perform inspection and surveillance of mechanical construction and installation activities.
Verify that mechanical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, procedures and applicable codes.
Inspect piping systems, mechanical equipment, supports and associated installations within assigned areas.
Verify that materials installed on site correspond to project specifications and maintain appropriate material identification and traceability.
Witness relevant mechanical inspections and tests in accordance with approved ITPs.
Monitor subcontractor QC activities and workmanship and report quality issues to Site Quality Management.
Ensure that inspections are properly recorded and supported by the required QC documentation.
Identify deficiencies or incomplete works and raise/follow up punch items and non-conformances as required.
Liaise with construction supervisors, subcontractors and the QC team to ensure timely rectification of identified issues.
Support mechanical completion and turnover activities, including collection and verification of relevant QC records.
Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures and immediately highlight unsafe conditions or practices.
